How a short period of time can change things, our neighbour who we have known for nearly 30 years passed away on 30th January suddenly, I was alerted by another neighbour so I went immediately to make sure Jake her Golden Retriever was ok, when I arrived the paramedics were still working on her which was a shocking thing to witness and poor Jake was curled up in he lounger being guarded by another paramedic who was making sure he did not enter the bedroom ( bungalow) and get in the way,
I brought him back to our home, now, he has been in our lives since he was a puppy and he is now 9 years old, so he knows us, he also stayed with us for three months while his owner was admitted to hospital.
He has changed our lives, he cannot climb stairs as was raise din a bungalow, he however does not climb in furniture, he never jumps up at people excitedly, he loves other dogs and adores children.
We have cancelled all future holiday plans as he has never been left alone in the house without his owner being there as she was agoraphobic so gets anxious if one of us goes out and if I pop to the bathroom upstairs he waits at the bottom of the stairs.
Its going to be a tough few months while he mourns the loss of his owner and the adjustment to a new life with us, wish him well xxx
