Diabetes and Anger ( i just knew it was related)

Diabetes making you angry?

Anger can be associated with diabetes. In some cases anger can result from frustration over high sugar levels or other difficulties in controlling sugar levels.

At other times it may result from finding it difficult to accept your diabetes diagnosis, which can happen even if the diagnosis came years or decades ago.

Many of us can be surprised by how angry we get and sometimes we may not be aware of just how angry we were. It can be very frustrating to feel unable to adequately control anger.

Sometimes feelings of anger can coincide with very low blood glucose levels and this can be a volatile combination as hypoglycaemia can have a marked effect on lowering inhibitions, which can cause people to have little control over their behaviour and actions.

If you struggle at times to control your anger, it can help to see how others are coping with similar problems.

It can also help to describe and share your feelings, which can act as an outlet and also give you a chance to focus on and make sense of what you’re going through.

The Diabetes Forum is a great place to share experiences such as difficulties in coping with anger.
