24 hours in Vancouver.

The Olympic torch still stands proudly in downtown Vancouver. Symbolising that the city hosted the winter Olympics.Vacouver is a beautiful city, when mum and dad visited in 1989 they always said if they had been younger they would have emigrated and lived here, the air is clean, the views are spectacular, it is not over crowded, and is well kept by the local authorities.

A lego Whale stands by the harbour. Silverseas Silver Shadow is berthed in the harbour awaiting its elite passengers ready to sail on a 9 night Alaskan Adventure, these cruises are exclusive and very expensive, passenger are even contacted a week before sailing to ask what they want printed on their personal stationary in their suite. There is not a sign of any plastic furniture on board with everything adorned in teak.On the other end of the cruise scale you will find Celebrity cruises, here is Millenium waiting its passenger on a 7 night cruise to Alaska, the prices are a quarter of what passengers will pay on silverseas and the space ratio and crew v passenger ratio will be reduced compared to the huge amounts of space and personal attention to detail on Silverseas!Celebrity Millenium Towers 14 stories high and can be seen quite clearly from downtown Vancouver.
The day in Vancouver was warm with clear skies and i would like to see Silverseas sail at 5pm then dash back to the hotel to put on my uniform for my flight home.
I wish i was going on one of these ships rather than a smelly 747 to London Heathrow.
Maybe i am living in a fantasy land where looking from the outside in it all seems to glamourous a little like flying until you actually experience it.
