Weekly Update

My standby started on 9th at 1500 and i was called to do Qucik Response from Heathrow hotel on 9th starting at 1705, on arrival at compass centre there had been many cancellations and delays and these were all in the event that "the storm" due to arrive on 10th across the south of UK bringing winds of 80mph will occur.

I went to the hotel with my BA Nokia Standby telephone and i switched it off at 2300 when my QRS (Quick response) ended.
It started again at 1100 and at 1205 i was called for Denver nighstop (24 hour layover)i was in ther hotel lobby at 1250 so i could settle the bill and hand in and sign over the BA standby phone to the hotel staff, after waiting until 1330 there was still no transport, the weather was atrocious, driving wind gusts, pouring rain all leaking into hotel lobby, the revolving doors had been locked as causing chaos and the floor was covered in white bath towels to soak up the water.
I called operations as 1330 and the said transport was on its way, after another call and a gentle reminder it showed up at 1430. The crew when i arrived were waiting for me as well as the passengers as they had already boarded.
I was working economy as i had not been part of the crew at the briefing so i had to have whatever position was left, and believe me it was 10 hours or pure HELL!!!! call bells ringing, galleys full of people wanting stuff constantly, toilets always busy, yuk, never again if i can help it!!!
I arrived back home on 12th and was pleased to be back home, Ged's two sisters leaving on 13th so Ged took them to see The Sound Of Music in London Palladium on 12th in the evening and they thoroughly enjoyed it.
I am not looking forward to Bombay on Sunday as it is a daylight flight out and a night flight home arriving the early hours of 18th at Heathrow.
There was a security breach at Heathrow today when a guy scaled the fence and crossed the runway carrying two hold alls, this caused delays and cancellations of flights and the bags were destroyed in controlled explosions. All this the day before the Queen opens Terminal 5, i operate the Hong Kong into T5 on 27th March which is the first day of actual operation and the crew and all ground staff move in full time on May 1st 2008.
